Text Enhance is NetSuite’s generative AI feature for writing and improving text directly inside record fields. Instead of staring at a blank item description or a thin customer message, you give NetSuite a short prompt or a rough draft and it produces polished copy you can accept, tweak, or regenerate. This page is part of our AI in NetSuite series.
What Text Enhance Does
Text Enhance appears as an option on supported text fields across records such as items, customers, and communications. You choose an action, for example expand, shorten, or adjust tone, and NetSuite returns generated text based on the field context and any content already present. You stay in control: nothing is saved until you accept the suggestion.
Example: Writing an Item Description
Suppose you add a new inventory item, “Stainless Steel Insulated Bottle 500ml.” In the sales description field you type a few keywords, then choose the generate action. Text Enhance returns a customer-ready paragraph highlighting the material, capacity, and typical use. You shorten it once for the web storefront and keep the longer version for print. What took ten minutes of copywriting now takes under a minute.
A Real-World Scenario: A Catalog of 800 Items
A mid-sized retailer migrating to NetSuite had 800 items with sparse, inconsistent descriptions. Rather than hiring a copywriter for weeks, their catalog manager used Text Enhance item by item, feeding each existing stub description and asking for a consistent tone. A human reviewed every result before saving, correcting the occasional spec the model guessed at. The catalog was refreshed in days instead of months, with a consistent voice across the store.
Good Practices
Always review generated text for factual accuracy, especially product specifications, prices, and compliance claims, since generative models can invent plausible-sounding details. Give the feature real context in the field so its output is grounded. And confirm feature availability for your edition and region against the current NetSuite documentation.
